Ulala! Space Channel 5 Making a Comeback?

28 01 2008

Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!
Hey there space cats! Before rhythm games included guitars, drums or freaky DJ equipment there was Ulala. Ulala is the ultra-mod host of her own swinging news report, star of the game Space Channel 5 (and close friends with Michael Jackson). Armed only with her smooth moves and a ray gun she single handedly saves humans from evil aliens who force their prisoners to dance! Oh, Ulala! Where are you when we need you? Rumor has it that Ulala, along with the Space Channel 5 franchise, may be swinging it’s way onto the Wii in a brand new sequel. The creator of the franchise says he’ll make a sequel if he has a reason to.
Space Channel 5 was released on the Dreamcast and later ported to the Playstation 2 with added features and more Wacko Jacko.

So, Did any of you play SC5? I loved the game when it first came out but it’s gameplay certainly does not stand the test of time. Would you buy a sequel?

Iwata Asks and New Brawl Character Reveal?

28 01 2008

Just in case you guys haven’t been reading here is the Link.

http://us.wii.com/soft_ssbb.jsp

On this page is an ongoing interview with Sakurai, who is, if you arn’t aware (Which you should) Is the Main guy behind Super Smash Brothers Brawl. It’s currently up to Vol. 5 and it’s a pretty good read if your interested in learning more about Brawl, and how it came to be, and why some new things were added.

However, i understand that some of you might Not Want to read the whole thing. Well in Vol. 5 Page 3 is a very interesting mention. When Sakurai is talking about how he was able to use models from previous games on characters in Brawl. Let me quote him for you all.

“Right. The development for Smash Bros. Melee began soon after the GameCube was released and we had to design each character from scratch. This time, however, we were able to borrow characters from various development teams, which was a big help. Take The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess from the Zelda series for example. We were able to design the Smash Bros. characters by adapting them just as they were modeled for the original titles.”

Hopefully you all will understand what part i’m pointing out.

Monday’s update was also very full of info, most likely becouse the game comes out in 3 days in Japan. So before I go, I leave you with this screenshot.

Swim Distance? Sounds like fun!

You might be playing brawl… As early as next Week!

27 01 2008

At brawl central i saw quite an interesting update. I know Mr Will is not fond of his gamestops, but they may accually be getting Brawl demos as soon as next week. Not Confirmed but here is the story.

“AnusNinja of SWF, who works at Gamestop, claims that his store may be getting Brawl demos in as early as next week. I called my Gamestop and all they said was they tend to have demos a few weeks before the game is released. I asked if two weeks from now sounds about right and they said most likely.”

Anyways, that got me excited, of course it could be not true, but still. Words to chew on.

VC Demos Included In Smash Bros.

25 01 2008

VERY interesting news coming from the Smash Bros. Dojo this evening. A new game mode was revealed called “Masterpieces”. This mode allows you to play timed demos of certain sections of Virtual Console games. Sounds like a great edition. Here’s the list of confirmed games so far:

Super Mario Bros (NES)
Ice Climber (NES)
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
Super Metroid (SNES)
StarFox 64 (N64)
Mother 2 (SNES) Via Japanese site
Fire Emblem (NES) Via Japanese site

No word if Mother and Fire Emblem will be making it stateside but the ‘Dojo had this to say:

But hmm, it seems there are still titles hiding in the Masterpieces section.

Titles?! What games don’t I know about?! That discovery is part of the fun, isn’t it?

Masterpieces are called masterpieces for good reason, and each of the well loved characters here come from a past that is worthy of that title.

To end, I’d like to take this opportunity to send my thanks to all the game creators and affiliated parties who helped in making this possible.

This game just keeps getting more epic. Looks like the delays will be worth it!
