Crossbeam Studios attending E4All Expo.

31 08 2007

After all this fishy Nibris business that’s been happening, I decided to catch up with another MIA Wii Developer, Crossbeam Studios (CSE). CSE has been busy and, according to their website, will be attending E4All in full force. Here’s the announcement:

August 19, 2007

Greetings to you all,

Over the past two weeks CSE has been very busy with our plans for E for All in October. We have been working with our sister company to finalize plans for the expo. As such our updates to the site have been a bit delayed. To make up for this we are offering you three pieces of art today, enjoy.

Don’t worry, there’s more enticing updates coming, and of course we’ll update this site with our E for All info as soon as we can.

Sincerely,
Your Friends at CSE

CSE will probably be showing of one, if not both of their Wii titles, Orb and Thorn. So that’s good news for people who like the concept art…including myself. I’ve contacted CSE and are awaiting a response.

Nibris F#CKS UP, Steals Artwork for DS "Game".

29 08 2007

Well after semi congratulating Nibris in today’s Wiicast…I’m taking it back. Seems that they have a new DS “game” in development called “Children of the Night”. Well they released some concept art for the game…which turns out to be fan art for Silent Hill V by someone who submitted their portfolio to Nibris. This art was cropped and released as official art without permission from the owner. Here’s the “Concept Art”.

Here’s the statement from the owner of the art as taken from a GAF thread:

Hey,thanks for being aware. There must have been some misunderstanding. Generally I work with Nibris doing concept art for Sadness and ROTR. Those three pics Nibris used in their NDS game promo I gave to Nibris only as a sample of my gallery and in what atmosphere I would see a horror game for the NDS to look like. I don’t really know why Nibris or Cubed3 released those artworks without my authorization, because they were intended for intranet only. Seems like one big shit :/

Overall, nothing bad happened, I’ll try to straighten out some people. Cubed3 should write an apology soon.

Thanks again,
Cheers

So now we have to question whether or not ANY of Nibris’ projects are real….AGAIN. I give up. as of this moment I’m completely writing them off until something hits retail.

Project O Revealed as Sim City-ish Harvest Moon-ey RTS RPG, "King Story"

29 08 2007

Famitsu has released the latest details about the mysterious “Project O”, Now titled King’s Story. Seems like the game will not only feature an all-star development team but will have have a city planning element as well as some RPG and RTS elements. From Joystiq:

The development staff has previously worked on titles such as Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII and Harvest Moon, which fits perfectly with the description of the game. As a sick boy, you find a magical crown that turns you into a king. From there, you give orders to your group of followers and build up your town into a vast kingdom. You will also be required to lead troops against kingdom-razing foes such as fire-breathing dragons.

Gamestop’s Secret Las Vegas Convention

27 08 2007

Living in Las Vegas is a beautiful thing, Especially when it comes to learning about to secret retail conventions. This past weekend at the Green Valley Ranch Resort and Casino, Gamestop inc held a convention for their management. Acording to my sources (and a little eavesdropping from a security guard) the convention is focusing on completely restructuring the Gamestop brand. The look, design, logos, etc will all be getting a major overhaul. One of the major changes will be their new slogan and mantra: “Power to the Players”, which is already popping up this weekend on numerous website ads. Also in effect is a program tracking certain “random” games’ pre-order sales to see if the standard pre-order deposit should be $10. Nothing Earth shattering, but interesting nonetheless. Expect Gamestop to make some announcements in the coming weeks. As long as it benefits the consumer, I’m all for it. Just as a side note, according to my source, Gamestop has no interest in buying out Game Crazy stores, who have been having some recent financial trouble.
